City of Sand City

Municipal Stormwater Program

The discharge of stormwater within the City of Sand City is regulated under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) General Permit. The City is a member of the Monterey Regional Storm Water Management Program (MRSWMP). The MRSWMP includes the Cities of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Del Rey Oaks, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Sand City, Seaside, and the County of Monterey. The MRSWMP was established in 2001 to establish regional cooperation in meeting NPDES permit requirements and to collectively address stormwater issues. The group meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month starting 9:30am at the office of Monterey One Water (M1W) located at 5 Harris Court, Building D, Monterey, CA.

The MRSWMP established a public facing and educational component, known as the Monterey Sea Stormwater Education Alliance. Background on the regional stormwater program, resources, and other materials may be found at: https://montereysea.org/.
